My Awesome New Toy – Galaxy Note

When I first saw the Galaxy Note, I was in love with the features.. I love the S-pen, I love the idea that I could screen capture anything and write notes on it. I love the big screen and I love that there is a second camera to it! Bottomline was I LOVE it.

However, I already have a fantastic phone that I love, the HTC Desire HD and I was seriously weighing the pros and cons before deciding whether I should really get the phone. Azwaj solved the problem for me. He told me that he will buy me my dream phone and he will, instead of buying his own new phone, take over ownership of my HTC phone. OMG! I squealed in delight! lol!

So on 28 December 2011, off we went to Low Yatt Plaza to get this super awesome dream phone of mine. I got an additional 16GB memory card and a beautiful pink leather flip cover to protect my lovely investment 🙂

So yeah.. a fantastic new toy for the New Year for me!  I am having so much fun with this phone that  at least it distracted me a bit from my Unifi internet problems.

Total cost for my brand new phone was RM2550.. worth everything penny! THANK YOU my darling Azwaj!!!

Windy Days

It’s so windy here at my area that there we’ve been sleeping without needing to switch on the fan or the air-condition. Nice change definitely from all the heat from the past months. I’m surprised though that the kids are all still swimming in the pool downstairs despite the cold water I’m sure. I mean it’s not like there is a raypak heater installed or anything.. but I guess kids will be kids and before the school starts again, they would want to enjoy themselves, cold water or otherwise.

Timing Myself

I think I way overwork these days and I’ve decided that I will keep track of the actual number of hours I go through daily working, minus facebook games of course, and start to manage my time properly. I mean, all work and no play makes LJ a dull woman right? lol!

Anyway, I decided to keep use my phone’s timer and set it to 10hours for now and each time I stop work, I would stop the time and vice versa. Then when my 10hours is up, the beeper would sound and I know that whatever time I work after that is considered overtime. Hmm.. should I pay myself overtime fees? Oh well, it is my own business and not like I’m working any Technologists & Technicians Jobs with fixed hours right?

Here’s to a more fruitful 2012!

Loving it: One Product Two Looks!

I’m a practical kinda gal and I love value for money buys. That is why I’ve always love those one product two looks kinda thing and this one from jansport backpack fits the bill just nicely. With one swoop, I can have the backpack matching my mood or whatever it is I’m wearing for the day. How awesome is that right?! Think about it, if I were to buy two of these, I can have four different look for the week!

Fruitful Saturday

Today, after a few days of rain, was hot and sunny, much like what sri lanka holidays would possible be like, I imagine. I’ve never been to Sri Lanka myself but what I heard, it can get really hot and since I prefer to visit a place with cooler weather, I doubt I will ever find out how hot it gets there.

Anyway, we plan to wake up early today to get some important errands done. One of them was to terminate our P1 services. Ever since we got our super fast Unifi connection, we hardly used our PI internet connection but since we were bounded by a two year contract, we had no choice but to continue paying the monthly bill.  The contract ended sometime in October but since we were busy, we didn’t have a chance to terminate it and continue paying the RM199 bill. Since it is a hefty amount, I put it in our errands list to get it terminate by latest December and thankfully we made time today and now we would be RM199 richer monthly (one can only hope.. lol).

Next we went to PJ to collect a guitar part for Azwaj. We got lost somewhat due to a wrong turn but managed to find the right turn using Google Map. Yeay for technology!

Next it was to the motorbike service center. Azwaj got new tyres, batteries, brake pad and something else that I don’t know. It was a two hour wait so I ended up playing games on my phone. Oh he also got himself a brand new RED (my choice) helmet and I got a new visor for my own.

All in all it was a fruitful day today. Sure it was tiring but when you get so many things done in a day, you can’t help but have a satisfied smile when you arrive home.

Random Thoughts at Midnight

• Yeay!.. I’ve finished my challenging project yesterday and will post about it shortly on LadyJava Creations. The other project  one is coming along nicely too. I just need to cross check the site with cross-browsers and while that is easy with Firefox and Internet Explorer, I still need to make sure the display would run smoothly on an iPad. Unfortunately I don’t have an iPad handy with me  and thus got to wait for my partner to lend me his so that I can finish the job. I don’t think I will buying any gadgets (though really salivating at the thought of HTC Flyer)  in the near future as I think a vacation is what I really need right now. I’ve been sourcing around to find cheap holidays nearby but with the rainy season and Aggie’s recent eye surgery, I don’t think that would materialized this year at all  though the sound of just not doing anything sounds pretty good to me right now. lol!  Oh well, perhaps I can just dream about it for now while planning for a nice one next year so at least that is something to be looking forward to.

• I’m experiencing very bad indigestion these few days which makes sitting no fun. Been taking Ginger Eno, and that seems to help.. I don’t think it’s what I eat but rather how much I eat. Sometimes being a night person has it’s disadvantage. I mean I wake up at noon but since it’s morning for me, I just take cereal or oats, then there is no lunch and basically dinner is whatever time A comes home… the funny thing.. I don’t seem to lose weight which is real bummer 🙁

• I’ve not been playing Cityville very much but when I do, there is so much to do!  My crops are dead, my cargo overboard and my goals are all expiring.. hahah.. do I really need all this stress?

• Someone dear to me is experiencing heartpain right now coz his cat might have ingested poisoned food meant to trap mouse. My prayers and thoughts goes out to him.

• I’ve not called mommy as often as I used to since she started a new stall. She said I can call her around 10pm when she’s home but I know by that time she will be too tired to talk.. I miss mommy 🙁

• I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving but I love the idea of giving thanks for all the blessings. So Thank You God and may there be more blessing the coming years for all of  us! Ameen!

I Love A Challege

I took up a challenge recently when a client requested me to do work that I’ve never done before and I must say it is coming along nicely and I am quite happy with the result. I won’t bring out the cigar just yet as the work is not completed but once it is, I will feature it on my LadyJava Creations soon.

In the meantime.. to all my friends who celebrates Thanksgiving… Have a good one with the loved ones ya!

Just the Hired Help

I’m currently co-working with a partner on a website design for a local company here in KL (me doing the front-end and his doing the back-end) and it is really testing my Malay language. Although technically I’m just supposed to use the words that they used for menu bar and content and what not, it sets me thinking what some of the terms that they use really mean. I mean it’s not bombastic Malay or whatever but “BEBAN KERJA” is “Responsibilities”?.. Seriously?.. and I can’t even change anything because the fields are all in those terms and one error, the whole database may not load.

Oh well, I think someone from that company may need to get London translation services before starting to translate words him or herself but then again it’s their company right? I’m just the hired help.. lol!

Island Hopping in Langkawi (2000)

Two months before our wedding, my then future father-in-law decided to bring the whole family (me included) for a vacation in Langkawi. Basically it was sort of a destressing session before we all get stressed from the wedding preparation in March. Since it was my first time visiting Langkawi and I had recently resigned from my work back home, I decided it was a good idea to relax before the preparation hit us.

Langkawi has beautiful beaches and one look you might even think you are on some  maldives holidays instead of Malaysia and we didn’t waste any time checking out the beaches and even going jet skiing.  We also went island hoping. My father in-law chartered a little boat that will fit 9 of us and set sail to visit the surrounding smaller islands namely Pulau Singa, Pulau Dayang Bunting and Pantai Cinta Kasih. As you can from the smiles on our faces, it was a fantastic day!

Meet the Parents at Lumut, Ipoh

I met Azwaj’s parents six months after our first date and it wasn’t just a one or even a two hour meet and greet session but it was for a weekend of all inclusive holidays trip to Lumut, Ipoh. .. lol.. talk about scary right? I mean I only knew the chap for six months and all of sudden he invited me to go on a holiday with his whole family and the scarier part was that I accepted..hahah..

Anyway I thought if this relationship was going to go somewhere, anywhere, I might as know his background as soon as possible and what better way to get to know him and his family better than spending time with them. Lucky for me, my future in-laws were an awesome lot and we got along fabulously. The place was great and I even got a glimpse of my first “ghost”.. haha.

This was taken before the era of smart phone and digital camera so all these were in the form of print. I managed to dig out some of them but since I was too lazy to scan them, I just used my camera and snap pictures of the photos hence that blob of white light from the flash.

This chalet area, up on the hill, no longer exist so I was glad we got a nice picture of it

Frustrated

I’m spring cleaning in hopes of finding one photo album that I’ve misplaced somewhere. I swear I have it in my home because I’ve seen it a few times but now for the life of me I can’t figure out where it is. I found some other photographs of my life once upon a time, even found a picture of some  rose plants that my late dad grew but still the one album that I’m looking for nowhere in sight. Arghhh…defintely no fun.

Oh well, I’m sure it will turn up somewhere but for now I’m just purely frustrated!

Meeting Up with Besties

As usual I always have a blast whenever the CNC ladies meet. We’ve been friends for more than a 15years and we try to meet up as often as we can whenever I come back home to Singapore.

Hard to imagine that Lilian has a son that just enlisted in national service, Shanti’s boy is 11years old and Li-Ming’s first born is already 9! Where did the time go?

We talked a lot of what’s going on in our life and work. We even talked about going on a weekend of cheap holidays abroad some day so much so that I suggested the ladies come over to KL for weekend. We could stay in some hotel, order room service and have a slumber party of mocktails and dancing and if loud music is a factor, we can all put the same song in our phone, plugin in the headphone into our respective ears, hit the play button and dance away.. lol!

The 3 hours that we spent today passed by too fast too. Before we knew it, our handphone was all ringing from calls from either child or husband signify that it was time to go home.

Sigh.. gonna miss my ladies and hope that weekend trip become a reality one day! Oh no picture as these ladies are all camera shy.. lol!

Hot Singapore

Sometimes when I stand at the corridor of my apartment here in Singapore, I feel like I’m on a beach on one of those Carribbean holidays or something. The cool breeze makes me forget how hot Singapore can get sometimes. Sad to say however, the breeze does not pass through the apartment at all. It just sort of pass in front of of the door and move onwards. That is also why the fan in the living room is NEVER off and I have this cute USB fan next to me while I’m working.

Anyway, I’m still thankful for the heat because I’m sure somewhere out there people are hoping the rain would stop in their area so that the flood would subside. As they say, the grass is always greener on the other side so am trying hard to remember that so that I am thankful for all the blessings that I have 🙂

Walking in Singapore

For the first time since I started the Music Monday meme 163 times ago, I actually forgot to publish my post at midnight this morning. Blame it on Raya, blame it on being sleepy, blame it on me.. lol! Anyway I only got the post out at noon, talk about late..haha…

Anyway, I walked so much yesterday that I was glad I had my comfy shoes on. It might be easyspirit shoes but it does the job. Yeap, there is a lot of walking for me whenever I go back. I think my “exercise” only happens while I’m back in my homeland.. hehe..

Back Home

It’s the same routine each time I come home from KL.

I will spend the first few hours catching up with mom.. and how she is, what she’s been up to, local goss.. lol.. This time around, that session is cut short as I had to go to Parkway Parade to get my new internet prepaid card because my existing one has expired. I went alone though as mom was too tired to accompany me.

Anyway, back home, mom was not asleep yet as she was waiting for me to have dinner together. Luckily I didn’t spend too long a time at the shopping center. We spend the rest of remaining evening still catching up on the memory foam toppers mattress but by midnight mom was too sleepy to continue. I also slept early seeing how I am to be on “normal people” mode for the duration of stay in Singapore. lol..

Good to be back!

Tranquility

When the fur-kids get frisky, they get so frisky that sometimes chairs topple, cushions go flying and even the speakers moved. It’s a good thing our television set is the old heavy type and not the flat thin ones or for sure we will have got get one of those flat tv mounts and mount it on the wall for fear that the tv would go splat on the floor when they start stampeding in the living room.

Anyway, so glad we got the kitty room. At least we get some real peace and quiet when they are sleeping in there.

I was browsing on one of those sites that offer freebies and offers and found an offer that I was very excited about. It was for a free pair of contact lenses. All I needed was to submit my request and within minutes I received their email asking me to collect them at the branch that I’ve chosen when I register. I have not collected the lenses yet but am sure I would enjoy wearing the pair for any special occasion that I might be going to 😉

Don’t you just love sites that offer freebies or items at special prices. There are so many nowadays that you are really spoilt for choices. From 50% to 70% off on food deals, hotel stays and shopping voucher, it almost seems that everything is affordable nowadays. I am on so many programs that my email is now filled with offers everyday…lol.. That being said, sometimes it does tend to clog up one’s email… and that is where a site like Yipit can be helpful.

Yipit acts as a filter for all these offers. Basically what you do, is you sign up, select the deals you want to received based on where you are staying and presto, you one get one email a day that contains only deals you are interested in. This site only caters to people living in the States so if you are living in Dallas for instance, just click on Dallas when you sign up and you will be emailed dallas daily deals only. Now that’s service!

Anyhow have you signed up for those discounts sites and have you bought anything yet? I am so tempted to go on one of those spa treatments. Just waiting for the right one at the right place.

When the Flu Strikes

As you can see from my tumblr picture above on Treasure Chest, it’s Panadol for Cold time. I have been sniffling these past days and thinking it was my allergies acting up, I took my ever effective Zyrtec allergies pill. However I was still sniffling after a few hours and then my body starts to ache and I realised it was not allergies but rather I was coming down with the flu. Then yesterday, Azwaj starting sneezing and complained of body ache too. So we are both taking panadol now.. lol.. Here’s hoping we get well by Sunday so that we can enjoy our Whitesnake concert!!

Brother and Sisters to Keep Me Company

My desk is a mess right now. I have three projects on my plates and I am going crazy with deadlines. I have my main pc on with my design  and coding work. I have two refurbished laptop computers at my disposal right now to test before A’s client come and pick them up so I have those two switched on as well to view my work live… and in order to not get too stressed and not make it feel too much like work, I have my laptop, Miss Fly,  switched on next to me and I have the tv show “Brothers and Sisters” season 1 playing. I am glad Shemah recommended the show to me coz I am loving it so much and because I have two seasons back to back all ready for my viewing pleasure!

I need to finish at least finish one project before I go back to SG for the Raya holidays.. Wish me luck!

My Night Owl Ring

I was on my date with my two main men on Thursday when I saw this lovely ring in one of the shops at Ampang Park. It was calling out to me on the display shelf and under the bright red light, it was simply too difficult to resist. Long story short, this lovely piece is now what I call my Night Owl Ring 🙂
