tax

For most people tax fever reach it’s peak in April especially when the due date is approaching. Not so for me, fortunately. I am one of those people that are always early. In fact the moment I get my tax return form from my employer and the website open for submission, I think mine would be among the first few to get submitted. Lol.

I don’t know about other country but where I come from, submission for taxpayers like me who does not have a lot of asset and single (at that time) was made very easy. There wasn’t any need to make copies of anything and no need to submit any hard copy of any forms. We just sign in using our SingPass, enter what we see on our annual income statement, deduct any allowable expenses, hit submit, print the acknowledgment slip, file it and forget about it till your assessment comes in. Even then, we could pay the taxes in installment 🙂

Relatively easy right? However people with assets generally need assistance in tax matter and almost always require tax extension form 2010 for instance. I reckon that is what book-keeper and accountants are around for right or for those that prefer to do their taxes themselves, a tax preparation software can come in very handy when assembling their return. Whatever the choice, just make sure you submit on time after the extension has been approved. We wouldn’t want to upset the tax department now do we?

stock-photo-visit-to-doctorBoth Azwaj and I have decided that if by Saturday, our condition do not improve, we are both gonna visit Mr Doctor to see what is wrong with us. We were hoping it was just some flu bug that would go away once it run its course but apparently we need perhaps some stronger meds and some antibiotics from the doctor to make us feel better. The thing is, I am going back to Singapore on 6th May for the Singapore elections and my gynae appointment, and I still got tons to do and things to buy before then so being sick is not going to help me get those things done.

Arghh.. expenses are so going up this month but thank goodness the medical bill in Singapore is highly subsidized so I don’t have to worry about that too much. I think we have what is equivalent to the US SSDI in Singapore but I could be wrong.

Oh well..flu bug go away!!!

Even with all this fresh air and the dehumidifiers on full blast, I feel like I’m suffocating. Perhaps it’s because something is not quite right in my life right now. Something is off balance and something is making me feel sad and down. I know I will survive whatever happens but I am hoping for the best outcome. I’m hoping we can overcome this and nothing gets weird or different. AND.. I can only hope that everything would be as sweet as it was before.

Ayah

19 years ago you left me and yet it seems like only yesterday we were chit chatting about my future.

You left too soon.. I didn’t have time to share with you my success or my happiness.

You left too soon that I was left without a father’s love when I needed your support.

You left too soon that I didn’t get to ask your advice about things like roadside assistance club

You left too soon.. I miss you…

Al-fatihah for Ayah….

Yesterday was the 1st anniversary of Mama’s demise. It all seems so surreal that sometimes we still talk about her in the present tense as oppose to the past and sometimes we still expect her to walk down the stairs when we go visiting Abah at his home. We all miss her for sure and as time heals the sorrow, the memories live on…

The living continue to live too. Abah has refused to move in with us or his other children as he still treasures his independence. Though generally a healthy man, he still has some complaints about backache and sometimes shortness of breathe that makes us think getting him one of those medical alarm bracelet a great idea.

How awesome would that be for both my mom and Azwaj’s abah right? Unfortunately the service is not available here or in Singapore yet but the idea behind this concept is absolutely brilliant. With the bracelet that serve as a personal help call button, our senior citizens can lead their independent lives but still be within help distance anywhere they are.

telephoneAnyway, until such service becomes available here, I’ve been calling my mom almost everyday, same as Azwaj to his father,  to make sure they are well all the time.

Have you call your parents today?
