I can’t believe I’m another coach tomorrow heading back to SG.. Where did my week go? Oh well.. I guess that’s what all those management jobs training during secretarial courses were for eh?

This ought to be a short trip if everything is ok with me. The pre-ops appointment is just so they can run some test to make sure I’m ready for my surgery on 16th June. I also need to talk to the Anesthetist on the type of anesthesia they gonna use. The room booking would also be done on that day to make sure I get the room that I can afford.. lol!

Continuing from my blog post yesterday…

So since I was not prepared for another surgery especially since the last one was only 2years ago, the next meeting was set for 24 May for me to meet up with a specialist to learn more about my condition and what can be done to help me with my situation. The meeting was indeed beneficial as it helped me to understand my condition more, the risk if I didn’t go through with the surgery and the risk if I did go through the surgery.

Basically if I didn’t go through the surgery, my cyst may rupture or twist and by then I would be in so much pain that I would need to through with emergency surgery. If I were to go through with the surgery, the risk would be bleeding, infection and blood clots. The good news is that all these symptoms can be controlled with medication and the percentage of that happening is real low.

The doctor also explained that although basically my surgery will be done laparoscopically there might be a chance he may need to open me up should any complications arise.

Surgery Date

16 June - The Surgery

I had so many questions for my doctor that day and he answered me patiently and I didn’t feel pressured to do the surgery at all. Basically I was looking for reassurance that after I go through with this surgery my problem would be solved. He told me that if the problem still occur after the surgery is done, meaning my ovaries and my uterus are spic and span of any fibroids and cysts and cancer has been ruled out, he can prescribed something to counter the problem. After hearing that I was so relieved and after thinking about it and weighing the pros, I finally decided to go though with it.

When I went for surgery in 2008 in KL, there was no pre-op at all. They just took some blood to do some blood work and then ask me to come on the appointed date for the surgery. So when I was asked to come back on 2June, two weeks before my surgery,  for pre-op for this surgery, I know I am in good hands. I guess I will blog about that when it happens 🙂

PS: Cost for consulting with the specialist? SGD25 only. I love being a Singaporean 🙂

After my surgery in 2008, nothing much changed in my condition. The situation still persist but since I didn’t really like doctors or my doctor in my particular, I didn’t pursue the matter. Then upon reaching 40 and pretty much knowing that there no mini me in the picture, I decided to just go and get myself some ecigarettes..lol.. kidding.. we decided that I should just go on hormonal pill to settle the problem instead.

I decided that I should get it in Singapore simply of economical reasons since I am a citizen there. Then a problem occur. Apparently, because I was 41 at the time, I was told they could not prescribe the pill to women over 40 for health reasons. I might get diabetes, high blood pressure, blood clots and a host of other problems that I don’t have currently. I was told that it is better to find out the reason of the problem and solve that problem instead.

fibroids

My Fibroids Surgery from 2008

I was referred to a specialist at the Kandang Kerbau Hospital in Singapore and went through a series of tests. In January 2011.  I was told I had multiple fibroids and an unknown growth in my uterus. The doctor suggested D and C and while doing that they would take samples of the growth and check for cancer. As I was definitely not prepared for any surgery I asked if it was possible to wait. The doctors said yes and took some blood samples instead to check for cancer marker. I was told my cancer marker showed moderate levels of 70+ and that it is still alright to wait for my next appointment which was to happen in May.

Well.. it’s May now and so on the 11th of May, I went for further test and was told on the 12th that my cancer marker dropped to the 20’s level and that it was on the acceptable range and that some of my fibroids have reduced in size while some have increased. The worry now is that I had a cyst in my left ovary that might burst or twist which means I would need emergency surgery. The cyst is also the one that caused me to double over in pain each time my period comes. Typically cyst can contain water or blood and it my case is it blood which makes it all the more worrying. As I understand it, my condition is known as Endometriosis and it is estimated to affect over one million women (estimates range from 3% to 18% of women) in the United States.

Since again I was not prepared to go into surgery, another appointment was set so that I could talk to a specialist about the whole issue.. I will elaborate more of that in my next post.

When you marry someone, you marry their life and your partner’s family become your family much like your partner’s friends become your friends. Well, today we lost a very dear friend, a very kind, loyal, friendly, ever helpful friend that is loved by many. People always have nice and good things to say about Fik and he is well-respected in his field of work as well.

Our Unifi was down yesterday so we slept early. Around 1am thereabout, Azwaj’s phone starting ringing followed by numerous text messages. He finally got up and check his message and was stunned when we got word that Fik was in the ICU and was in critical situation. We knew Fik was ill but we also knew that he was seeking help and that his condition was improving. Anyway around 3am, Azwaj received word that we were able to visit him in the ICU anytime because of his condition. It seems he was already on life support and the outcome was grim. As such the doctor was opening up visiting hours for people to say their goodbyes. We immediately got ready and rushed to the hospital.

Fik was already in a coma. He was on all sorts of machines and tubes was everywhere. We prayed for him, stayed a while to talk to and consoled his mother and sister and left around dawn as there was nothing we can do anyway. Once Azwaj arrived home, he sms their mutual friends and updated them on Fik’s condition.

Around 8am, another friend called to let us know that Fik was no longer with us. It felt so unreal. There was simply no words to explained how both of us felt that precise moment.

Zul Fikhri bin Ismail was laid to rest in the Kajang Cemetery today, 17th May 2011. May he rest in peace, leaving behind all pain and suffering as he meets our maker. Al-Fatihah..

You will be missed dear friend…

I am going to miss your muffled words that I used to love to tease you about.

I’m gonna miss your laughter

I’m gonna miss your love for the kitties when you come over…

I’m gonna miss you..

fik

Azwaj always laughed whenever I sing this song. I’m not sure if he finds my voice funny like I need some natural testosterone supplement or whether he finds the title funny..lol.. Whatever it is.. I love this song and I love Olivia Newton John. This song was taken from the soundtrack of the film Xanadu and it’s call Suspended in Time. I just love the chorus part.. don’t you?

shoppingI have been shopping non-stop, from shoes to clothes, from cosmetics to toiletries. Good thing I don’t need polaris rzr accessories otherwise I would shop for that too.. lol!

Anyway, it’s been so hot here in Singapore since I arrived that I dread each time I got to go out to run errands but since I almost always come home with something new, the heat seemed bearable somewhat.. hahah.. notty me eh?

cockeye My mom and I went over to the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority today to go get our passport renewed. Although we are able to submit our application via internet or post, I decided to bring my mom to ICA itself and do it over the counter because I wanted to request for urgent collection. So now instead of collecting it next Monday, I can collect mine on Thursday instead.. yeay!.. though since I have an appointment during the collection appointment time, I can only collect on Friday 🙁

As happy as I am with the service over at ICA and the quick turnaround time, I can’t help but be dissatisfied with my passport photo. Apparently my new awesome glasses give a bad reflection and since they need to “see” my eyes, it is not approved. The lady at the photo kiosk handed me a pair of fake glasses with no lens. My antennas all got raised because I knew this photo will turn out disastrous simply because when I am photographed without my glasses, my eyes tend to go all screwy as if I am seeing double.. and just as suspected, it turned out so 🙁

Arghh.. I so hate looking at that photo now!

waterfall at home

Our very own waterfall due to the non-stop rain

I’ve been a day person for a few days now and it’s really not too bad. I mean I could do without the intense heat but I reckon that’s what happened when you’re out in the sun. Anyway, it was a nice change especially with the non-stop rain these past two days.

So today was also grocery shopping day and the bill came to a whopping RM300 even though there wasn’t anything substantial what we bought. It was just standard things like rice, coffee mix, milk, garbage bags, toilet roll, soap and some very little things.. Seriously I was amazed at the total. Oh I did buy beef and spaghetti as I planned to make spaghetti for A on Friday so that he has something to eat when I’m gone. He gets so lazy to eat when I’m not around and this way, he has something to heat up when I’m away.

While at the subject of grocery shopping, I was waiting for Azwaj at the lift lobby while he parked the car. The monkeys were all out because I reckon they were hungry from no food because of the rain. They were seriously eyeing our plastic bag but since I had a stick with me, they didn’t come close. I’m also glad that there are remote security camera everywhere at the lift lobby so in case something happens, the security guards can come to my aid in a jiffy.

Off to bed now.. have to wake up early to go get my coach tickets for my trip to SG on Friday!

stomach painI woke up today to the most gut-wrenching pain in my tummy.. literally. It felt like someone was pulling my intestines and holding it there so much so that I had to bend foward so that it would not hurt. I suspect it is the ph level of my tummy so I woke up slowly, got me some milk from the fridge and took two antacid. Then I lay down, in a fetal position and wait for the meds and milk to do its job. Just as expected, in half hour, the pain subsided and I was back to normal again. In my previous post Shemah told me that it might be gastric pain and I am inclined to believe her. I am so gonna check with my doctor during my visit to SG next week.

In the meantime, click here for some reviews on diet pill.. lol!

Ever since being sick and losing 2kilos and probably gaining it back already, I am feeling like a bloated whale right now. I eat and eat but I seemed to be hungry again in less than 3hours. I’m not sure if I’m “REALLY” hungryor if it’s just wind coz after I eat, I tend to feel nauseous. Anyway, to try to be less nauseous, I’ve been eating smaller meals and it seems to work though I hope I won’t gain weight from all this eating because as we know from some of the lipozene reviews, diet pills don’t always work.

Anyway, as I’ve mentioned in other blog, I’m trying to be “normal person” which means “day person” and it’s been two days now.  It’s not bad, except for the heat, so I reckon I will continue  even though this quiz from blogthings is telling me otherwise.. lol!

You Are a Night Owl

You’ll be the first to admit that you aren’t a morning person. You dread hearing the alarm clock. True.. the alarm clock is my “frienemy”

You really don’t start to wake up until the afternoon, and you reach your peak energy levels at night. I love working at night coz it’s so cool and quiet

You can’t be rushed early in the day, and you hate having a 9-to-5 job. Not really though I love not having a 9-5 job..

You do better when you’re able to set your own schedule. You prefer to let inspiration strike at night. Spot on!
