Mama passed away exactly one month ago today.  Her memories still linger on in our minds and the feeling of grief is still fresh.

This is especially so for Abah who lost his life partner of 43years. He lost a wife, a soul partner, a best friend and a lover, all in one go.  He is coping the best he can but he keeps telling us that he feels that his time on earth is not long either. He is having difficulty breathing sometimes but he refuses to go to the clinic to get checked out. He even stopped taking his vitamins that he takes religiously when mama was still around. It’s like he wants to join mama.

It’s so sad to see him like this but there is nothing we can do except to just give him moral support and be with him so that he does not feel lonely. My sister-in-law would stay with him in the morning through lunch and Azwaj and myself would visit him in the evenings and stay with him through dinner. Our only hope is he stays strong and not give up on living.

I can honestly say I am not a gardening type of person but after spending some time in Abah’s garden while watching A and Abah dig burial spot for two my kitties, Mufasa and Anja that passed on in April and June, I had a new appreciation of all the plants that Abah has in his garden.

Don’t get me wrong, I love flowers and plants but it’s just not in my nature to grow them. I’m an apartment sort of person and having potted plant is simply not me. Having said that, I saw some really nice garden planters while at Abah’s garden and while surfing today found some even nicer ones online. I think it would make a great gift for Abah who has been so gracious to offer us to bury them both in his garden, don’t you think?

Abah, my father-in-law, hurt himself today while climbing down the ladder from the rooftop. It was not the outdoor rooftop but rather the “inside” one. It was accessible only from mama’s sewing room.

It seemed after he was done, he climbed down, must have lost his footing somewhat and came tumbling down with the ladder. He has a deep cut on his shoulder caused by the edge of the bookshelf when he fell. He also had some bruises and his whole body all ache he said. Luckily mama was there when it happened but in her panic she can only watched as the whole incident happened before her eyes. She screamed for my SIL who was also at home and together they helped Abah away from the incident.

Luckily he did not suffer any serious injuries. In fact he refused to go to the doctor but I suspect the pain would actually set in the morning when all the bruises would be swollen. We advised him to lay off his gardening for the time being and hopes he listens 😉

If I have missed a day or two of blogging, it is not entirely my fault. You have Azwaj to blame for it coz he downloaded the game “Hell’s Kitchen” for me when I was away in Singapore. He knew I love the reality show and immediately downloaded the game for me when he found it online.

I only recently installed it and now am totally hooked. Aside from the obvious, which is to win the game, another great aspect of the game is that they actually share the recipes with us. I can choose which recipes I like and hit “Print” and presto, I can have it in soft or hard copy. I really need to get that list of best diet pills now to make sure I don’t gain any more weight once I try all the dishes there sengihnampakgigi!

Last week, Mama, on knowing that I was returning to Singapore, asked if I could do a favor for her. She wondered if I can get “Old Spice” and “Tabac” cologne for Abah. It seemed Abah really loved the scent and had long been looking for these two colognes in KL without success. He had even asked mama to see if she could get in Bandung on her trip there last month. Unfortunately without success as well.

Anyway, mama found out from my SIL’s husband that he “sort” of saw it in Singapore on his last trip there. So last week, she told me that if I could get it for Abah, it would be a great surprise… and so we both agreed it would be my mission this time around.

Then today, when me and Azwaj were over there, Abah came to me, patted my back and asked me “so you getting me Old Spice?”… I was like… ‘huh?’… in my mind was, “how did he know?”

Then I found out much later from Azwaj that it seemed, Abah, knowing that I was returning to Singapore, had the same idea as Mama did! He actually asked mama when I was going back and told her that he would ask me to get the colognes for him.. Lolz.. so now mama had no choice but to tell him that she actually thought of that already and had in fact approached me with the very same idea..heheh… I guess great mind do think alike eh…

So now, the secret’s out and it’s too bad really, I was really looking forward to seeing his face when I give it to him on my return… oh well.. Now I really hope I can find it Singapore…lolzzz
