Me and mom went to a wedding yesterday. It was an Indian Muslim wedding so it was something different definitely. The ambiance was different, the entertainment was different (I believed they used snowball mic for the singing session coz it sounded awesome) and the brides and grooms.. there were two couples were all nicely garbed in Indian wedding style. The food was also extra yummy and both of us had seconds.. hehehe..

This is what I wore to the wedding.. Nice eh..

Me in Red

Oh here’s a video from the wedding.. enjoy!

The haze is back people and with no rain in the horizon, I reckon it is here to stay. I am monitoring the PSI index and keeping my ventolin and allergy pills handy. Here’s what it looked like from my balcony this afternoon. Looks like I won’t need any postcard printing to be done since it is not looking picture perfect right now.

You never really appreciate something till it’s gone.. and that is exactly what we are experiencing right now. We miss WATER. Apparently this second round of rationing is affecting our condo area and we will only be getting water supply at every two days interval. My apartment is filled with water basin and every container is being used to store water! I am minimizing drinking (which is not easy since it is so hot) and also minimizing eating.. (maybe I’ll lose even more weight after this whole water rationing exercise!)

water

I was telling Azwaj, if not for the furkids, I would have packed our bag and go off somewhere where there is ample water supply till this rationing is over!

Yeap.. McD won’t deliver to my condo building 🙁 Apparently their rider always ended up being robbed on the way to our condo area and as such the condo building is blacklisted by them. It sucks big time because McD is the only one that deliver 24hours and yes we do get hungry at 2 in the morning..

I’ve  forgotten to ask if the blacklist is only applicable for night time delivery only though.  Crooks.. they are everywhere and creating trouble for everyone 🙁

As I’v mentioned an in earlier blog post,  I am attending an interview at Malaysia IMM for my permanent residence application on 3rd September 2013. So people wish me luck that I’m gonna ace it so I can move on the next level of the application.

The first few things that the officer told me I got to know are the Malaysia National Anthem and “Rukun Negara” so here’s the information in case anyone is looking..

1.Lyrics for Malaysia’s  National Anthem ” Negaraku”

Negaraku….
Tanah tumpahnya darahku,
Rakyat hidup, bersatu dan maju,
Rahmat bahagia, Tuhan kurniakan,
Raja kita, Selamat bertakhta!
Rahmat bahagia, Tuhan kurniakan,
Raja kita, Selamat bertakhta!

2. Rukun Negara

  • Kepercayaan kepada Tuhan
  • Kesetiaan kepada Raja dan Negara
  • Keluhuran Perlembagaan
  • Kedaulatan Undang-Undang
  • Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan

I’ve no idea what other questions they may ask but I guess basic things like the name of the prime minister, Dato Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, National Flower (Bunga Raya or Hibiscus) or maybe info about about the flag, Jalur Gemilang as I found out below: (sorry its’s in Malay)

Anyway.. am off to do more research…

Oh by the way.. Happy Merdeka Day Malaysia!  Did you guys catch the Google Doodle yesterday. Awesome right?

Due to some complications, I got to redo my applications for my permanent residence status here in Malaysia. We have successfully submitted the application and our first interview has been set for 3rd September. I asked the officer in charge as to what kind of questions will be asked. She told me probably about the “Rukun Negeri” stuff, general info about the country and perhaps even sing the national anthem. She even jokingly told me to practise my pitching.. I was like “WHAT?” (lol). Maybe if I bring along behringer speakers at Musicians friend I will sound better? Oh well.. wish me luck

rhb phishing attempt

I opened  my email today and found this message. One look and I thought it was from RHB and since I did perform one fund transfer transaction yesterday I thought “on no it didn’t go through”. But when I hover the “SUBMIT button”. the link was to “http://www.designx2.de/wp-admin/validateprofilefree.php” and I noticed they didn’t even address me in the email. Yup folks, this is phishing attempt.

So be careful before clicking on any links and if the email is from your bank then they always address you by your name.

Keep safe.

So I googled it this afternoon and got the new address. Azwaj said he knows the place so that is big sigh of relief otherwise I guess I got to bring along cushion for chair to place under my bum in case we get lost.

Anyway, here’s the new address in case anyone needs it.

The air quality where I live right now is less to be desired. It could be because of the no-rain situation making everyone complain of the heat but also because we are also experiencing very bad haze. I mean I can smell smoke whenever I stand on my balcony to dry to clothes. Of course that being the case, the drying now goes on inside my apartment and the sliding door leading to the balcony is not completely shut. It is good thing that the front of the apartment is facing the forest to at least I can open the front door to get some fresh air circulating in my home.

I was thinking that maybe we should get some sort of carbon monoxide alarm that or something that can monitors the air quality in my home. At least it can trigger some sort of alarm when the air quality is being compromised and I can get ready with my asthma medication.

Anyway, I hope we get some heavy rain soon.  I said “heavy” rain because although there the rain did come yesterday it was only for a few minutes and not enough to really made a difference in the air quality. ..sigh

the hazy view

waterfall at home

Our very own waterfall due to the non-stop rain

I’ve been a day person for a few days now and it’s really not too bad. I mean I could do without the intense heat but I reckon that’s what happened when you’re out in the sun. Anyway, it was a nice change especially with the non-stop rain these past two days.

So today was also grocery shopping day and the bill came to a whopping RM300 even though there wasn’t anything substantial what we bought. It was just standard things like rice, coffee mix, milk, garbage bags, toilet roll, soap and some very little things.. Seriously I was amazed at the total. Oh I did buy beef and spaghetti as I planned to make spaghetti for A on Friday so that he has something to eat when I’m gone. He gets so lazy to eat when I’m not around and this way, he has something to heat up when I’m away.

While at the subject of grocery shopping, I was waiting for Azwaj at the lift lobby while he parked the car. The monkeys were all out because I reckon they were hungry from no food because of the rain. They were seriously eyeing our plastic bag but since I had a stick with me, they didn’t come close. I’m also glad that there are remote security camera everywhere at the lift lobby so in case something happens, the security guards can come to my aid in a jiffy.

Off to bed now.. have to wake up early to go get my coach tickets for my trip to SG on Friday!

unifi technicians

unifi technicians hard at work

I love it when scheduled jobs go as planned.

The day started bright and early for us today. Yeap, as early as 6am. We showered and by 7am, we were ready to leave the apartment to go to mama’s grave. As expected, we met Abah there. He still goes to visit late-mama EVERY morning since April 8th! After breakfast, we went to Abah’s house for a bit and and rushed back to tidy up the apartment in time for the people from Unifi to come.. and they came on time (well done)!

The installation went smoothly lasting only about 2hours. The technicians tested that all connection was working fine and explained how the iptv works. We are now in awe as how fast pages are loading and Azwaj’s download of 350mb only took 5minutes!

We are now currently on the VIP10 package as we still have one more year to go with P1 package.. but if Unifi perform well, we may very well upgrade to VIP20 and experience 20mbps instead! Do you have Unifi? How do you like it?

I think we need to get bathroom fans soon. This is because we live in a jungle and they are lots of mosquitoes and they enter through the window in our bathroom. I keep spraying insecticide in there and it’s making me giddy each time I need to use the place so I reckon with a bathroom fan, the smell of the insecticide won’t be too strong for me but still be enough to kill or chase the mosquitoes away.

Shooo mosquitoes!

I was at JPJ earlier to renew my driving license and was quite surprised that they actually asked for my passport to verify my identification. Good thing our Singapore identification card and our passport actually have matching numbers so we can use one or the either for identification and good thing too the officer accepted my Singapore identification card so that I don’t need to make another trip down. I also found out that I can renew my license for up to 5 years depending on the validity of my passport so I will target for that next year. My passport expire next year in December but I planned to renew it early next year so that I can try to get my social visit pass extended for five years too.

Sigh.. when will I get my freaking PR??

I love it when it’s cold like now. I’m less irritable and the coffee that is going down my throat feels heavenly as I feel it’s warmth down my whole digestive system. The floor and walls feel cooler too just like living in some sort of steel buildings. I simply love it and it’s such a nice change from the heat that feels like it’s around forever. The fasting month is coming and wouldn’t it be nice if we have weather like this during that period.

I was just lamenting on how I think I would never get my Permanent Residence status here in Malaysia over at my other blog yesterday. Without that piece of paper, it means I am still a foreigner with no rights and that extends to medical care as well. So.. I’m seriously looking into health insurance quotes these days. You’ll never know when you’re gonna get sick right? Our friend just had kidney stones removed and the cost was a whopping RM12 thousand. Lucky for him, he had insurance. If that had been me? OMG!!

And you know what, even getting a quote posed another problem. I don’t know if I am supposed to get the policy here in Malaysia or do I get one in Singapore. Anyone knows?

The staff at the bank must really think I’m a bitch and honestly I don’t care one bit!

If you recalled from my previous post, I was really pissed off at a certain bank for having their freaking cheque deposit machine inside their branch which caused me to waste more time looking for another branch that had the freaking machine outside their branch so I can deposit my freaking cheque after office hours.

Well the same bank again insist on my wasting my time yet again. This time it was when I tried to deposit cash into a cash deposit machine into my husband’s current account that has not been accessed a few months. Each time I press the “OK” button, the machine would canceled my transaction causing me to redo the lengthy procedure for three times after which I gave up and deposit the cash into another account altogether.

Angry, I went to the bank’s counter today and asked them what’s going on with the account. They told me that bank accounts that have not been accessed for more than 6mths would automatically be considered dormant and no transactions are allowed until it is reactivated again at the bank’s counter.

Ok, I was about to accept the explanation and then I remembered that each year the bank would deduct RM10 for what they refer to as “service charge” from the account. So my question is, if you consider my bank account dormant, why do you deduct the money from my account and if I am already paying the charge, why do you consider my bank account dormant?! Valid questions? I think so.

The bank’s teller response was “Oh the money is automatically deducted by the system as does the “dormanting” of the account” and he had the cheek to tell me.. “oh no problem, you can just come down and reactivate your account”.. and that was when I got angry and I said “No problem? Having to come down to the branch personally to reactivate my account that you’ve been deducting money from each time, is no problem?. Man, I got better things to do with my time. You guys need to find another programmer and revised your system altogether!”

Now, I may naive and this might be very well the way it is done by ALL the banks in Malaysia but come on.. do you think it makes sense? They already deducted my money for a whole year service, why do they need to “dormant” it after six months of no activity? Just don’t disturb my account! Plain and easy!

Thoughts?

..and that was what I was muttering away as I walked away from one of the bank here in Melawati. All I wanted to do was deposit a cheque and instead of being outside the bank, the cheque depositing machine was inside the bank and as you may have guessed (seeing I am a night person), the bank had already closed! So on how was I supposed to make a deposit now?! I mean, how can they be so stupid? Don’t they realised that people do their banking outside of banking hours! Argh!!!

Anyway, because of that, we had to go back to Ampang. Just imagine travelling another 20minutes to the same bank but different branch (who had smarter designer because the deposit machine is outside the bank) just to deposit a cheque, we wasted time, we wasted petrol. Arghhh!!

I so need some retail therapy now… I’m thinking Dansko shoes? lol!
