Wow, first time in Singapore, haze level has reached hazardous levels of PSI 321!. I pray for rain so that the haze will clear up. I am also praying for the safety of my mom, my relatives and friends living in Singapore.

I am keeping a close look at the PSI level at this site. Azwaj is already telling me to go and grab my mom and bring her here!

On my last trip to Singapore, I decided that I would bring my mom for a facial spa day. So I looked around at Groupon Singapore and found a perfect one nearby where we live. So on 1st March, both me and mom went for a facial spa day.

The offer was really economical as for SGD$23, we got 75 min Facial, Face Mask, Eye Treatment, Eyebrow Trimming, Neck and Shoulder Massage plus an additional Ampoule treatment. My mom also got to experience her first real spa experience. How cool is that right?

spa day

All in all, it was a really nice experience for both of us and my mom told me her face never felt so smooth and clean before.. lol!

As I mentioned in my other blog, I had a busy day today. I had errands to run this morning (again) and then it’s off to my aunt place in the afternoon. After having a hearty meal, we proceeded on to my aunt’s son place at Casablanca Condominium.

The place is really very nice. I love how the landscaping is done and the pool area is really awesome. Apparently each block have access to their very own pool area with Jacuzzi and barbecue area. Not sure if they have heated pool though coz I didn’t see any raypak heat pumps or anything like that. It was really too bad we arrived in the evening and it was already dark otherwise you will surely see some nice pictures here.

Anyway, we got an open invitation to come over again any time so I may just take up my cousin’s offer 🙂

Today, Singapore celebrated its 47th birthday. I was not there to watch the National Day Parade (which happens to be awesome each time) or enjoy any of the day’s celebration but I am still a Singaporean at heart through and through!

Happy Birthday Singapore !

connection speedI just realized something while surfing on my laptop today (No, not the samsung netbooks but my very reliable and old notebook). Anyway I realized that if I were to use my usb modem (the dongle version) and connect to the net, I get a 3.6mpbs speed but if I were to connect to the internet via wifi hotspot using using my Samsung Galaxy Note, I get 54.0mpbs speed. Isn’t that crazy? I thought all this time it was 54.0kbps and I was switching to the dongle each time I come home to work on my laptop when it was actually easier to connect via wifi hotspot and get a much faster speed. Duh me!

billLooking at my hospital bill this time around makes me proud to be a Singaporean. My bill came up to SGD5,614.98 in total but after the government grant of SGD4,299.02, I only have to pay SGD1,315.96. However I still don’t have to pay this amount as I have enough funds in my Medisave account to pay the full due sum. Thanks goodness or else I will be searching out payday loan for sure.

In case you’re wondering, Medisave is not an insurance policy per say. Every working individual in Singapore need to contribute to what we call a Central Provident Fund. Each month a small percentage of our pay is deducted. Then this amount is divided into three parts, an Ordinary account, a Special account and a Medisave account. As the name suggest, Medisave helps to pay for a portion or total amount of our hospital bill, if we qualify that is. As I met the criteria, my bill was paid for using my medisave account.

Hurray!

shoppingI have been shopping non-stop, from shoes to clothes, from cosmetics to toiletries. Good thing I don’t need polaris rzr accessories otherwise I would shop for that too.. lol!

Anyway, it’s been so hot here in Singapore since I arrived that I dread each time I got to go out to run errands but since I almost always come home with something new, the heat seemed bearable somewhat.. hahah.. notty me eh?

cockeye My mom and I went over to the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority today to go get our passport renewed. Although we are able to submit our application via internet or post, I decided to bring my mom to ICA itself and do it over the counter because I wanted to request for urgent collection. So now instead of collecting it next Monday, I can collect mine on Thursday instead.. yeay!.. though since I have an appointment during the collection appointment time, I can only collect on Friday 🙁

As happy as I am with the service over at ICA and the quick turnaround time, I can’t help but be dissatisfied with my passport photo. Apparently my new awesome glasses give a bad reflection and since they need to “see” my eyes, it is not approved. The lady at the photo kiosk handed me a pair of fake glasses with no lens. My antennas all got raised because I knew this photo will turn out disastrous simply because when I am photographed without my glasses, my eyes tend to go all screwy as if I am seeing double.. and just as suspected, it turned out so 🙁

Arghh.. I so hate looking at that photo now!

blackberry phoneOn my trip back to Singapore, I took the opportunity to check out some of the mobile phones available in the Singapore market. I was going crazy at all the packages that the telecommunications providers were providing. Some were even offering free mobile phones with a two year contract..or at very least the phones, like the HTC Desire I would love to own so much, was going at a ridiculous low price. Let me tell you, if I was still living in Singapore, I would be switching phones each year with the upgrade options the company were offering. I might even give the blackberry torch or the  blackberry playbook a try!

But alas, I don’t live in Singapore anymore and to get a mobile package there just doesn’t make sense right so I just moved away and carried on with my shopping instead. ..hehehe… oh did I tell you I got my long overdue boots? I did! Yeay!.. but I shall leave that for another post 😉

Arrived Singapore today around 2pm. Had to get some pet supplies before the shops close and then just hang around the house playing with the kitties as A was doing some work on my pc while I was away and there was still some tweaking to be done before I can really use my pc to it’s fullest potential. I took the time offline to also do some laundry and unpack. Wow didn’t realise I managed to pack so many stuff into my brand new luggage bag although it wasn’t as big my previous one.. lol! If I had know I was such a good packer, I would have gotten that rocawear jeans that was on super sale in one of the store.

Have a great weekend all while I recuperate from my Singapore trip.. lol!

I was going through some old pictures and found this one of when I was still a young career woman of 25 in Singapore. I loved that cubicle as I had a very nice huge window behind me that overlooked Shenton Way while the rest of my colleagues (except for the other Executive Assistant that was sitting next to my cubicle) only had wall to wall cabinets for their view…lol.. I also loved that whenever I needed to think about the monthly reports that comes as part of my finance job scope at the end of the month, I can just swivel myself to face the window and it’s like I’m at another place altogether.

I was just lamenting on how I think I would never get my Permanent Residence status here in Malaysia over at my other blog yesterday. Without that piece of paper, it means I am still a foreigner with no rights and that extends to medical care as well. So.. I’m seriously looking into health insurance quotes these days. You’ll never know when you’re gonna get sick right? Our friend just had kidney stones removed and the cost was a whopping RM12 thousand. Lucky for him, he had insurance. If that had been me? OMG!!

And you know what, even getting a quote posed another problem. I don’t know if I am supposed to get the policy here in Malaysia or do I get one in Singapore. Anyone knows?

This is the view from my home in Singapore. We are lucky to have clear open space in front of our block and not just another building to see. The hawker center building in front of our block just recently opened after being closed for total refurbishment about two years back and it’s looking rather nice. It even have patio furniture by the sidewalk and if they only have patio cushions, it would be a perfect lounging area in the evenings for sure.

See all those tents by the roadside? Well the weekend I was back, they had a mini “Pasar Malam” or Night market, but that is a whole different post altogether.

Usually when I come home to Singapore.. me and mommy would have lots to talk about.. from daily events to happenings with relatives and mutual people we both knows. It seems this time around, there is a miracle cure that is helping all those that we love with their illnesses.. from not being able to walk, some of these people are now walking again.. from a face full of acnes, their faces are now all clear using the acne products that is being recommended by the program.

I’ve yet to investigate further into this miracle cure but I like what I am hearing.. Will research more and update you guys as I go along 🙂
